The Estate Vineyard Chardonnay
REGION - Yarra Valley
The Estate Vineyard consists of a series of small plots of mature Chardonnay. Located within a few hundred meters of one another, these plots consistently produce the finest, most detailed wines on the Estate. The oldest vines were planted in 1976 and the youngest plantings in 1994.
2018 was a warm season with timely rain. Near perfect growing conditions even though ripening occurred relatively early. Good natural acidity with balanced flavours. Harvest for the Estate Vineyard Chardonnay started on the 20th February, and concluded on the 3rd March, 2018.
Pale straw with a green edge. Restrained, citrus florals, brioche and nutty. Fine, minerally and textural flavours with moderate phenolics which give grip and interest, balanced acidity.

Hand-picked, whole-bunch pressed, racked to older French oak casks, wild ferment, lees stirred in late autumn and left to rest until late Nov. Mature vines (the oldest were planted in ‘76) are at play here bringing an effortless cool to chardonnay’s personality. Everything is in its place, no angles or points, just beautifully expressive fruit - grapefruit pith, lemon delicious, quince tartness, almond meal texture, baked bread.
