Brilliant deep purple wine of admirable varietal purity. Black cherry, plum, and hints of mocha, eucalypt and clovey spice meet nose and palate. It's medium-bodied, juicy and balanced well by fine drying tannins.
Kyeamba Creek Vineyard of the Locke family, from the Jac's and Peppers blocks.
2018 saw a cooler and slightly wetter than average winter, vineyards experienced regular rainfall and warm temperatures throughout the spring which was then followed up with a warm and dry summer with generally lower yields and great fruit concentration.
Deep purple with a lovely bright edge. Bright red fruits and hints of dried bay aromas. The palate is sumptuous with more rich red fruits, silky tannins, generous weight and texture.
Destemmed and fermented at 23-27°C over 7-8 days. Pressed, racked and then approximately half of the blend was matured in older American Barriques and new French Hogheads for 10 months, whilst the remainder stayed in tanks for freshness and brightness.
