De Bortoli Yarra Valley Estate Vineyard Pinot Blanc
One hectare plot of Pinot Blanc on an east facing site planted in 2011.
Early, warm and dry season. Aromatic varieties quite fragrant and delicate.
Pale straw with a green edge. Delicate, creamy, nutty and fine. Gentle aromatics, minerally, drying phenolics, hazelnut, textural.
Dry style, textural, food wine. The Estate Vineyard Pinot Blanc is the classic bone dry traditional French style. Its history has close links to Chardonnay and you can see the same sort of fine mineral traits.
Hand picked, gently pressed and allowed to settle overnight. The juice is racked to older French oak casks to ferment and mature over 5 months. The lees are stirred intermittently for creaminess and texture.
Alc/Vol: 12.7%, pH: 3.23, TA: 5.6g/L
The wine will continue to develop complexity and interest with good cellaring for 3-5 years.
Freshly shucked Moonlight Flat oysters.
Hand-picked, fermentation and maturation in used French oak casks for 5 months. Often compared to chardonnay, but this variety has more in common with fiano with its warm textural support. No matter the similarities, the grape is here to stay and definitely of the moment with its approachable citrus, cut pear, spice and pretty florals. 94/100Halliday Wine Companion 2021 August 2020
